Hello! This is Atami Bay Resort Korakuen!

It’s that time of year when rainy days become more frequent. How is everyone doing?
The rainy season can make you feel a bit down, but that’s exactly when you want to recharge your energy by enjoying some delicious food, right? (`・ω・´)

It’s that time of year when some people might think, “It’s raining today, so maybe I’ll just stay in…” But even though I sometimes feel like going out on a rainy day is a bit of a hassle, I’m the type of person who ends up heading out anyway whenever I come across a shop that catches my eye or hear about something delicious.

(My appetite just wins out over the hassle… lol)

Actually, when you eat delicious food until you’re full, it’s amazing how it lifts your spirits!
Before I knew it, that feeling of reluctance I used to have on rainy days had just vanished (*´ω`*)

(Am I the only one who, for some reason, finds myself craving delicious food even more than usual during the rainy season…? Whenever I come across something like, “I’ve been meaning to try that place for a while,” or “I heard they’ve started a limited-time menu!”, I’m surprised to find that my reluctance just melts away.)

And the whole experience—from actually enjoying a delicious meal to heading home thinking, “I’m so glad I came”—is all part of the package ( *´艸`)
Have any of you had an experience like that?)

Eating isn’t just about filling your stomach—the experience itself is part of the fun, isn’t it?

It could be the time you spend thinking, “What should I eat today?” or the time you spend agonizing over the menu.

When I think back on it, I actually really enjoy eating with family and friends while chatting about things like, “That looks delicious!” or “Want to swap a little?”

Don’t you find it especially exciting to enjoy a meal where you can sample a little bit of a variety of dishes?

I’m curious about this, and I want to try that, too. But then I worry, “Will I be able to finish it all…?”
I think that the time spent deciding what to choose is part of the “joy of eating,” too (^^)

A new dining experience has just been launched that lets you enjoy both the “joy of choosing” and that “just-right sense of satisfaction”!

This time, three of us staff members—including myself—went to experience the “One-Plate Dinner Buffet” available at the restaurant “HARBOR’S W,” so I’d like to share our experience with you all♪

(I actually got to experience this on June 4, 2026!)

I guess the first question is, “What exactly is a ‘one-plate dinner buffet’?” Well, it’s a new style of dinner where you choose your favorite dishes from a colorful array of options and serve them onto a special plate just once to enjoy! (No seconds allowed… (´;ω;`))

“I always end up taking too much at a buffet…”

“I want to try a variety of foods, but I want to enjoy them in just the right amounts!”

It’s perfect for people like that, too! ♪

As shown in the photo, there are two plates in total—one main plate and one dessert plate—and the food is served on top of them!

The best part is that you can create your very own “original one-plate meal”!

“Those who prefer hearty, meat-centered meals”
“Those who prefer a balanced mix of fish and vegetables”
“Those who prefer fair-trade and locally sourced dishes”

And so on—everyone has their own way of enjoying it.

The way you plate your food can completely change the vibe of the dish, so it’s exciting just to spend some time thinking, “What kind of combination should I go for?”
It sounds like fun to try your hand at creating an “Instagram-worthy” presentation that makes you want to snap a photo! ♪

By the way, how do you all go about serving yourselves when you go to a buffet?
I imagine there are some people who prefer to “take a quick look around the entire area first to come up with a plan,” while others prefer to “grab anything that catches their eye without hesitation.”

As for me, by the way…

“I’m the type who goes all out from the start and then, in the second half, starts worrying, ‘Will I even make it to dessert…?'” lol

“That looks delicious too!” “I’m curious about this one as well!”—as I kept saying things like that while piling my plate high, before I knew it, the portion had turned out to be much bigger than I’d imagined (^^;
Well, when it comes to this one-plate buffet, it might actually be just the thing to keep me from overeating… (or so I thought at the time.)

This time, the three of us tried our hand at a one-plate dinner buffet, so I think each of our dishes will have its own unique flair ( *´艸`)

(Don’t you think a buffet really reveals a person’s personality? Some people arrange their plates meticulously, while others just dig in heartily, thinking, “As long as it tastes good, that’s all that matters!” It might be fun to compare how your family and friends approach it (^^))

HARBOR’S W’s dinner buffet features a rich selection of 60 dishes spanning Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisines, and we also offer seasonal special menus!
(At the time of my visit, they were hosting the “Sun, Sea, and Delicacies: A World Resort Fair for the Five Senses.”)
*The “Sun, Sea, and Delicacies: A World Resort Fair for the Five Senses” is being held from June to August 2026.

There are plenty of dishes that seem perfect as appetizers…!
By the way, all three of these are from this fair’s menu (^^)

We also have a wide selection of fresh vegetables!
Seeing them lined up on ice really brings out how fresh they are…!!

It has an appetizing aroma and appearance…!

And when you think of Shizuoka, you can’t miss the classic “Shizuoka oden”!
(It tastes so good when you sprinkle some fish meal on it… (*´ω`*))

We also have fried chicken and french fries that kids love.
(These two looked absolutely delicious, fresh out of the fryer…)

Of course, we also offer a wide selection of seafood—a must-try in Atami!
Tuna is such a luxury, isn’t it…
(You can also enjoy the seared horse mackerel as a tea-soaked rice dish for your grandchild!)

Plus! We also have dishes prepared right before your eyes by our chef, giving you a truly live dining experience!
The photo below shows our Cobb salad—it’s prepared right in front of you!
*The Cobb salad is part of our special promotion menu.

Starting with salt and pepper,

Pouring a generous amount of dressing on the Cobb salad…!!

When mixed with leafy greens,

Finally, top it off with a tomato baguette, and it’s done!
If they demonstrated something like this right in front of me, of course I’d want to eat it…!

Of course, we have a wide selection of desserts, too!

(They also had a selection of my favorite matcha-flavored items (`・ω・´))

Since this is a one-plate dinner buffet, we only get one chance to plate our food.
After giving it some thought, I picked out the dishes I wanted to eat (=゚ω゚)ノ

Now, I’m curious to see how the other two arranged their plates.
Let me introduce you to all the staff members’ “very own one-plate dinner buffets”!

Staff Member #1’s One-Plate Dinner Buffet

First up is this one! It’s beautifully plated!
The colors look really vibrant and appealing!

This is definitely a dish you’ll want to snap a photo of (*´ω`*)

HARBOR’S W’s special pizza, baked in a wood-fired oven, looks delicious…!

Staff No. 2’s One-Plate Dinner Buffet

It’s such a well-balanced dish—it looks just like a textbook example!
We’ve got everything you’d expect from a HARBOR’S W dinner buffet—all the essentials are covered!

From classic roast beef to sushi and even Fujinomiya yakisoba—what a solid lineup!

Well, to cut to the chase, the last dish is—as you might have guessed—my own creation…!!

Staff Member #3’s One-Plate Dinner Buffet (Me)

Wow… I took way too many… lol (*´ω`*)

I ended up putting a bunch of the things I wanted to eat on my plate, so it turned into a pretty wild dish, lol.
It’s packed to the brim with no empty spaces… lol

This is something I noticed after actually trying it out—it rides better than I expected…!
Although there’s a limit to serving it just once, you can still serve a portion that’s just as generous as what you’d normally eat!

Also, I really appreciate that there’s a separate plate for dessert…
Just having a separate plate for dessert makes a big difference in how much you can serve!

(By the way, even if you take just this much, the price stays the same, so if you can eat a lot, it’d be a waste not to take as much as you can! lol)

Of course, every dish was delicious, and I ate until I was full…!

I’m so satisfied—thank you for the meal! (*^-^*)

What did you think?

The “One-Plate Dinner Buffet” lets you freely choose your favorite dishes to create your very own meal.

We highly recommend this as a new, casual way to enjoy a buffet while still getting all the fun of a traditional buffet (^^)

3,850 yen per person (tax included)

You can use it here!

You can enjoy everything from appetizers to main courses and desserts at a great value.

It’s perfect not only for meals with family and friends, but also for dining alone♪
